We are pleased to announce the launching of a new quarterly photography contest that is held and sponsored by “Burn My Eye” collective. The contest is designed to source and showcase new and outstanding street photography. Our goal is to provide a forum that brings together people with a passion for it and to bring exposure to talented photographers from all over the world.

The theme of the first contest is “ON THE BRIGHT SIDE OF THE ROAD”. We aren’t merely looking for photographs taken literally “on the bright side of the road” but we are also looking for pictures that betray a positive attitude and vitality towards life.

The contest is hosted in flickr and all submissions will be accepted exclusively via the contest’s public group "Burn My Eye Photography Contest "ON THE BRIGHT SIDE OF THE ROAD"

We welcome your submission to Burn My Eye first quarterly competition.

Burn My Eye member Jack Simon is the winner of the #RealityRemade Street Photography competition! His set was the judges’ choice among the work of five finalists.

Here’s Jack’s first reaction, upon announcement of the results:

“Having seen the strong entries of the other finalists, I am excited and humbly surprised to have won.

It was a fun and challenging project – especially knowing all other finalists used the same camera phone. I found the Xperia ray easy to use and was impressed by the quality of the images. I’ve even been using it whilst jogging both as a camera and a media player which I would like to thank the Street Reverb team and Xperia Studio for running this competition.”

The community winner, determined by the public’s vote, is Marcos Bauza! Congratulations to both winners and all finalists!

The sets for each of the five finalists:

Jack Simon

Two Burn My Eye members are among the five finalists of Street Reverb/Sony Xperia’s "Reality Remade" photography competition. Regina van der Kloet, in her project “The eye of the beholder”, explores photographically the sense of Déjà vu as it appears in ordinary candid moments. Jack Simon is continuing his wondrous examination of reality revealing itself anew through reflections in the series “Through a glass darkly”.

The other finalists are David Solomons “Surreal city”, Marcos Bauza “Nice shot” and Paul Russell “The beauty business-What recession?”

There will be a winner selected by the competition judges and a community winner selected by you. Votes are accumulated on the Sony Ericsson Facebook Page.
